Script Sides Example
Three pages of real script sides, marked up the way a production office marks them: scene numbers circled, unshot scenes struck through, and a continuation note at the foot of the page. Use it to check your own sides before they go out to cast and crew.

Why an example
Sides are simple — until you have to make them.
Sides are the mini-scripts cast and crew carry: just the scenes being shot that day, printed half-letter and stapled in shooting order. Everyone on set has seen a set of them. Far fewer people have had to cut a set themselves the night before a shoot day.
The conventions are the part that trips people up. Which scenes get struck through, how partial pages are handled, where the scene numbers sit, and what tells a reader the scene continues. This example shows all of it on real pages, so you can match it rather than guess.

What it looks like
Real pages, marked the way a production office marks them.
Three consecutive pages from a formatted screenplay, cut down to sides exactly as they would go out to cast and crew.
Struck-through scenes
Scenes not being shot that day ruled through, so nobody works from the wrong page.
Scene numbering
Numbers kept from the locked script so sides match the schedule and the call sheet.
Continuation notes
A clear marker when a scene runs past the bottom of the page.
Half-letter ready
Formatted for the A5 / 8.5x5.5 print that fits a back pocket.
