Why this template
Storyboards are how the director communicates the shot.
A storyboard is the comic-book version of the film: panel by panel, what each shot will look like. Used right, it lets the director, DP, and 1st AD agree on a sequence before anyone shows up to set — which is the difference between a tight day and an improvised one.
Storyboards are especially valuable for stunts, VFX, and any complicated camera move. They are how you communicate intent to the camera department, the AD team, and the producers reviewing feasibility.

What's inside
Six panels per page, with the fields a director needs.
Each panel has its own description field for shot, lens, action, and notes. Print the page, sketch by hand, or paste reference frames in digitally.
Six-panel grid
Six landscape panels per page — the right balance between detail and density.
Shot description
Free-text room for action, dialogue cue, and blocking.
Camera setup field
Reference list of common shot types and lens choices.
INT/EXT and day/night
Slot-fields for the metadata the AD needs to schedule.
Movement notes
Standard notation — black arrows for character motion, white arrows for camera.
Aspect ratio guides
Match panel format to the film's aspect ratio — 16:9, 2.39, 4:3 — without redrawing.
